This webcast briefly covers the forums' benefits, operations, & features. If you're new to forums, or if you just want to get more out of them, this webcast shows you the ropes.

1. Registration

The first step is to sign up for the ASTECH Forums, so you have more than guest access. It's free, you don't have to provide much info, and only a simple e-mail address is used to confirm your account.

2. Ladder System

The more you post, the higher your ranking in the ladder system. The various levels designate those who contribute most to the forum community.

3. Why Forums?

What's so good about forums? What are the benefits? This video describes the ways a forum community can help your efforts. Get news, share ideas, & collaborate for better effect.

4. General Forum Operation

This video covers basic navigation, layout, & rich-text posting. If you're unfamiliar with forums, this is a good overview to help you get started.

5. Features

Here we provide an overview of the forums' initial features. Active topics allow you to see what's new. The Memberlist, with its Buddy System, can be used to find other forum users. The Calendar keeps track of industry & forum-related events. An independent Search feature also allows you to find specific text anywhere in the forums!

6. Private Messenger

The Private Messenger is an independent web mail system that can be used to send messages to forum members. It integrates with topic posts to expand the communication options for forum members.

7. Settings

There are a variety of options to customize the forums to suit your tastes. Change passwords, choose avatars, & activate e-mail notifications from here. Also discussed is the forums' e-mail notification feature.
